The source and goal of all we do at St. John’s, our corporate worship draws us together as one. There, like Christ, we are blessed, broken, and sent out into the world to serve with joy. On Sunday mornings we worship at 8:30 in a quiet, simple service without music. At 10:30 our Cantebury Choir leads us in singing hymns and "service" music - the "Gloria", "Sanctus", etc. The choir also sings an anthem each week. Children join us for this service after the Peace. Some of the older children join in with the senior choir at this point. An additional Eucharist is held on Wednesdays as part of a healing service. |

Special services occur throughout the year:
|
|
| Our worship owes its beauty and depth to many groups within the church. In addition to the choirs, the Altar Guild, ushers, Lectors, Intercessors, Acolytes and Chalice Bearers all contribute to a service which actively involves the lay members of the congregation. | |
| To serve as an acolyte, one needs to be at least in the fourth grade. After initial training, children are scheduled for those services that do not coincide with Church School. We have no upper age limit for serving as an acolyte. | |
| Baptisms are encouraged at the four main baptismal feasts in the church year – the Easter vigil, Pentecost, All Saints Day and the Feast of the Baptisms of our Lord; however, it is usually possible to accommodate a family’s need for a specific date. Baptisms always take place during one of the main Sunday services. It is the custom at St. John’s for children to begin to receive the Eucharist as soon as they are able to do so after they are baptized. | |
| Confirmation takes place once every two years in the spring. | |
| Weddings are arranged by appointment with the rector, and require a course of pre-marital counseling. | |
